The town of Miami’s Centennial Celebration included an essay contest, poem contest and crafts contest. The essay contest invited students to respond to the question, “What would I do as Mayor of Miami?” The first-place winner was Riley Guthrey who was presented with a $100 cash prize from Mayor Darryl Dalley. First place winner of the poem contest was Michele Henderson. First place winner for the crafters was Gabriella Cabrera. First place winner from the Miami Junior High School was Kody Medina. Dalley extended thanks Miami High School Principal Glen Lineberry for having 71 entries from the schools — 31 junior high and 40 high school — for the essay contest.
